Ordnance Survey Folded Map - ONE INCH SERIES Sheet E223
Here is information about Sheet 223: One Inch Sheet 223 Colne Valley & Braintree 1887 - published 1999; intro by John Marriage. ISBN.978-1-84151-134-4 This map covers the area of Essex from Wethersfield eastward to Lexden, and from Castle Hedingham southward to Kelvedon. A small portion of Suffolk, around Nayland, is in the top right corner. Essex towns include Braintree, Coggeshall and Halstead, but this is really an area of villages. On the reverse is a detailed map of the village of Marks Tey, with a directory. It is not possible to list the many hamlets, farmsteads and other topographical features shown on these maps. However, you may find it useful if we list the towns and principal villages or church parishes that are included on this map: Essex: Alphamstone, Birch, Black Notley, Bocking Churchstreet, Bradwell, Braintree, Castle Hedingham, Chapel, Coggeshall, Colne Engaine, Copford, Earls Colne, Easthorpe, Feering, Fordham, Gosfield, Great Horkesley, Great Tey, Halstead, Kelvedon, Lamarsh, Layer de la Haye, Lexden, Little Coggeshall, Little Horkesley, Little Tey, Marks Tey, Messing, Mount Bures, Panfield, Pattiswick, Pebmarsh, Rayne, Shalford, Sible Hedingham, Stanway, Stisted, Twinstead, Wakes Colne, West Bergholt, Wethersfield, White Colne, Wickham St Pauls, Wormingford. Suffolk: Bures St Mary, Nayland, Wissington.
