Ordnance Survey Folded Map - Middlesex Sheet MX11.07A
Here is information about the map for Hendon: Middlesex Sheet 11.07 a Hendon 1895 - published 1995; intro by Pamela Taylor. ISBN.978-0-85054-372-8 Middlesex Sheet 11.07 b Hendon 1912 - published 1996; intro by Pamela Taylor. ISBN.978-0-85054-806-8 We have published two versions of this map, showing how the area developed across the years. The maps each cover the same area, stretching from The Burroughs eastward to Finchley Road, and from Waverley Grove and Fitzalan Road southward to Leeside Crescent and Temple Fortune. On the 1912 map part of Hampstead Garden Suburb is in the SE corner of the map. Other features include tramways along Finchley Road, Council Offices on The Burroughs, Christ Church, St Mary's church, Decoy Farm, Carmelite Convent, Finchley Bridge. Perhaps unusually for London, no railways are shown. Each map includes street directory extracts. The two introductions by Pamela Taylor - then archivist for Barnet and my assistant editor - are excellent concise essays on the history of Hendon.
Reduced from the original Ordnance Survey 1:2,500 map to a scale of approximately 1:4,340 (or about 15" to the mile). This edition published by Alan Godfrey Maps, Leadgate, Consett
