Ordnance Survey Folded Map - Middlesex Sheet MX11.07B
Detailed map of Detailed map of Hendon; Middx sheet 11.07. Introduction by Pamela Taylor. Cover the area from The Burroughs eastward to Finchley Road, and from Waverley Grove and Fitzalan Road southward to Leeside Crescent and Temple Fortune. On the 1912 map part of Hampstead Garden Suburb is in the SE corner of the map. Other features include tramways along Finchley Road, Council Offices on The Burroughs, Christ Church, St Mary's church, Decoy Farm, Carmelite Convent, Finchley Bridge. Perhaps unusually for London, no railways are shown. Each map includes street directory extracts. The two introductions by Pamela Taylor - then archivist for Barnet and my assistant editor - are excellent concise essays on the history of Hendon.
Reduced from the original Ordnance Survey 1:2,500 map to a scale of approximately 1:4,340 (or about 15" to the mile). This edition published by Alan Godfrey Maps, Leadgate, Consett
