A Latin Glossary for Family and Local Historians is not a comprehensive dictionary but an alphabetical listing of Latin words, together with their English equivalents, that researchers are most likely to encounter. Many old legal documents were written in Latin, which can be something of a stumbling block for those who are unfamiliar with the language. Latin words also occur in parish registers, wills, title deeds and manorial records.
First published in 1989, A Latin Glossary for Family and Local Historians is still going strong. No researcher should be without a copy - and once you get your hands on this little gem, you will wonder how you ever coped without it!
