Ordnance Survey Folded Map - ONE INCH SERIES Sheet E329
Here is information about Sheet 329: One Inch Sheet 329 Poole Harbour & Bournemouth 1893 - published 2000; intro by Jude James. ISBN.978-1-84151-161-0 This Inch to the Mile map covers the area around Bournemouth. In 1893 this was split almost equally between Dorset and Hampshire, although today Bournemouth is administratively in Dorset. Coverage stretches from Lytchett Maltravers eastward to Highcliffe and Hinton Park, and from Lydbury Rings and Hinton Parva southward to Poole Harbour and Hengistbury Head. Bournemouth is already shown to be developing into an elegant resort, while the many heaths and commons on the map are attractively portrayed in this early map. On the reverse is an extract from Hampshire Sheet 87.02, covering Hinton Admiral. It is not possible to list the many hamlets, farmsteads and other topographical features shown on these maps. However, you may find it useful if we list the towns and principal villages or church parishes that are included on this map. Links are given for those for which detailed large-scale maps are also available. Dorset: Arne, Branksome, Canford Magna, Corfe Mullen, Hampreston, Hamworthy, Hinton Parva, Kinson, Lytchett Maltravers, Lytchett Minster, Parkstone, Poole, Sturminster Marshall, West Parley, Wimborne Minster. Hampshire: Boscombe, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Hinton, Holdenhurst, Mudeford, Sopley.
